Landscape With Invisible Hand: A new take on an alien invastion - Tucker Gergen
Landscape With Invisible Hand follows an artist and his girlfriend in a alien world. In this world it is hard for humans to get jobs because the aliens (vuvv) took all the jobs and the only way to make money is to get close to them. People have to learn a new language and adapt to all these strange technologies.
Our main characters find a way to make money by broadcasting their love to the vuvv as a 1950s couple. The vuvv have kids, or spawn as they call them, just come out like a bud on a flower. The reason this matters is as the book describes it, “there is no evolutionary benefit for vuvv to like walks on the beach, unlike for humans.” Love interests them and in fact it seems the vuvv as fascinated in people with out caring about them.
This book does well as a commentary and great for the creative and imaginative mind. For example it says the vuvv are squares that walk on all fours. You may have a completely different idea of what they look like from me.
To read this book you will need an open mind and just ignore some small plot holes. This is a great casual read, it might take someone just a few days to finish it reading it in your freetime.
I like the concept of aliens coming down and not hurting us, but at least trying/seeming like they want to help us. I would give this 7/10, go check it out for an easy read
Hi Tucker, this seems like an interesting book. It's an interesting concept for aliens to just be interested in humans instead of having benevolent or malicious intentions.
ReplyDeleteHey Tucker, this is a concise book blog that does a good job by giving a quick summary. You definitely convinced me to read this book!
ReplyDeletenice review! I like it
ReplyDeleteHi Tucker, I find this plot pretty unique as you said, but some of the parts I feel like aren't, like the offspring being born via budding. Still, this book sounds interesting and I feel like I would enjoy it, as I like to be able to interpret books as I like (like how the vuvv are said to be squares that walk on all fours).
ReplyDeleteHi Tucker! I love casual reads and this seems like an interesting one! Characters in an alien world, will definitely need to check out! Great job!
