The Crossover      The Crossover by Kwame Alexander was published in 2014 and, one year later, won the Newbery Medal and was selected as an honor book for the Coretta Scott King Award. The book is written in verse and centers on two thirteen year old brothers (and basketball champions), Josh and Jordan bell. Josh (a.k.a. Filthy Mc. Nasty) narrates the story as he watches his relationships and household change before him. Josh and Jordan’s father, Chuck Bell, was a reknowned basketball player in his youth – a legend on the court - but retired early due to medical circumstances. His health is deteriorating, but he refuses to see a doctor, and Josh and Jordan have to live with his rapidly declining state. Meanwhile, Jordan falls in love with a girl at school and neglects spending time with Josh, leaving Filthy alone with his thoughts. Hector Kircher - book 2

Since I liked the 1st book about hunger games, I read the second one as well: Catching fire by Suzanne Collins. If you don’t know what the hunger games is, it’s basically where people are split into 12 districts and they have to pick 2 people from each district to fight for their death. This installment starts with Katniss living in district 12, just like the 1st book. What’s different from the first book, however, is that district 12 is now a lot richer with money and food due to Katniss’s hunger games victory in book 1. And then, another hunger games tournament was held, with all the victors of previous games participating. This included Katniss and Haymitch. However, there was no victor in this hunger game. The only complaint I have about this book, and the hunger games series as a whole, is that the books are too long. I think that is understandable, though, because the books are a trilogy of a long, overarching story that wasn’t really meant for people to quickly read and write ...

Saif Shakir - The Adventures of Tintin: The Blue Lotus

   Summary WARNING SPOILERS*** This story starts out with Tintin being in India, relaxing with the Maharaja, when they are interrupted by a random man who has a secret message for Tintin. When Tintin and the anonymous man are in private, the man tells Tintin that a person by the name of Mitsuhirato needs to meet him urgently in Shanghai. Almost instantly, Tintin leaves for Shanghai, and when he arrives, he calls for a rickshaw to take him to the secret meeting place. When Tintin reaches the secret meeting place, Mitsuhirato strangely tells Tintin to immediately return to India because the Maharaja is in danger. Even though Tintin is extremely confused, he does not want to take any chances, so he returns back to India, but on the way loses consciousness and is kidnapped.  When Tintin regains his consciousness, he sees Wang Chen Yee, a man who runs an organization to prevent the smuggling of drugs in Shanghai, and requires Tintin’s assistance to successfully find a cure f...
